Taking It Cheesy ... Crazy Tales of Alex & Spencer
The boys and I met my parents at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia last week. It was a nice little day trip and a good way to see my parents for a few hours. Both boys had a blast – Alex was actually asleep on the way home before Spencer was! Thanks, Grandma and Papa for meeting us!

After my post with the pictures of Spencer sitting in the over drawer, he did so much more crazy stuff! So, I decided to devote another post to Spencer’s true personality coming out. He keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure! If I’m busy with Alex or chores, he always finds a way to get my attention! (Ever wonder why he’s never fully clothed? He refuses to wear bibs, so we’re almost always taking clothes off after every meal.)
 We we are upstairs in the office/playroom, Spencer loves to sit in the Mega Bloks table and beg for “ish” (goldfish). He’s just as obsessed as Alex was at this age! |

 This picture makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. We were having a dance party and Spencer just started going crazy carrying things around the living room. If you’ve ever partied at our house, you know we love to run circles around the downstairs … this is Spencer’s version of the fun! |

Library story-times never seem to work out for us. I was really hoping someone would have a toddler story-time while Alex was in school so I could do something alone with Spencer. I did finally find one right by school, but the timing isn’t very convenient. Luckily, errands took a little too long last week, so we had to stick around, rather than drive home for 30 minutes. We finally made it to a story-time!
It’s fun to see how Spencer handles situations away from Alex. He was immediately sucked in! He waved at people, danced to the music, loved the stories, and made some friends. I couldn’t believe it when he’d walk a few steps away, turn and laugh, then run back into my lap. I can still remember Alex’s first day of Kindermusik when he cried and cried because they shut the door, then wouldn’t let me put him down! Spencer definitely didn’t want to be held! He had so much fun – and I did, too!

Our boys have been banana crazy lately. Spencer loves them and will point to the fruit bowl and say, “babababa” when he wants one … which is really all day long. Once Spencer is eating one, Alex almost always wants one too. Here is how they were eaten the other night while I was trying to cook dinner:

We were super impressed, especially since he sang the words just as they were written on his paper:
Way up high in the apple tree,
2 little apples smiled down at me.
I shook that tree as hard as I could.
Down came those apples … (that was good)
*Preschool Update*
Alex is doing great! I was a few minutes early to pick him up on Thursday and had a moment to talk to Miss Barrie. She said that he had really come out of his shell, was talking a ton, always engaged in everything, and loved playing with Ethan. Then Alex was so excited to show me Ethan, his best friend. I’m so proud of my big boy!
On Wednesday, I decided I needed to take my boys on an adventure. The weather was just too perfect to run errands or hang around the house. So, we packed up the cooler and jumped in the car for 40 minutes to Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury. I’ve been wanting to try out this park since we moved here. They have a small train and carousel, which I knew would be closed during the week in the fall, but I thought the petting zoo, barn, and aquarium would still be open. Turns out, I was wrong! I was so bummed! Thank goodness for technology and smart phones – I looked up another park I had been wanting to try and pulled up the map. I had to bribe Alex with a milkshake, then we were on our way.
We ended up going to Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville. Oh my gosh, what an adventure it was! I knew they had an animal safari, but I thought we’d be able to take their wagon ride. Of course, that has to be done with a reservation. So … we rode through the animal park in my Altima with Alex in the front passenger seat and Spencer in my lap (after about 15 minutes and realizing he’d be quite safe going 5 miles an hour) and fed all kinds of animals. We made quite the mess of my car, but it was SO MUCH FUN! We definitely had to drive through the car wash and vacuum out my car when we got home to get rid of the animal slobber and feed.

 Then, the real fun began! We fed zebras, llamas, deer, pigs, emus, ostriches … so many animals! |

 We would have been able to feed the giraffes through the sunroof, but the wagon ride was in the way. |

We can’t wait to take Daddy and ride the wagon!
Last Monday, we had friends over to read If You Give a Moose a Muffin (same author as If You Give a Mouse a Cookie) and to bake pumpkin muffins. We had a blast, but my kitchen table was a disaster! We had 5 preschoolers taking turns mixing the batter and 4 babies/toddlers running around the playroom. I was worn out by the end, but I’m so glad we hosted! Next time though, we might just read If You Give a Dog a Donut at Dunkin Donuts.
