The boys and I went out in a light rain Friday afternoon for a little walk down the street. The boys were super excited to wear their boots and rain jackets and to eat a popsicle in the rain (even thought it was pretty chilly). I had to make them pose for a quick photo. It doesn’t get any cuter!!

River Jam
Since the weather was a bit cooler last week, we decided to get out of the house and attend the River Jam concert series at the National Whitewater Center. The concert series goes on through the summer on Thursdays and Saturdays, so hopefully we’ll go back for a few more. We love going to the NWC - you don’t have to even get in the water when you go. You can just watch everyone else, listen to the live music, drink good beer, and eat good food. The boys’ favorite part is climbing on the mini rock walls:
The evil look is because he was trying to climb on the highest rock there. |

Blizzard of 2015
Our snow storm was (thankfully!) no where near a blizzard, but it was enough snow for us to play in. I think the boys had the most fun the night it started. We took them outside to catch the huge flakes in the dark. They were mesmerized! Alex wanted to eat the snow, so we put some on a plate on the kitchen table – you’d have thought I’d just served them an ice cream cake. They went nuts and even ended up making snowballs and throwing them to Kovu (who likes snow way too much for an African dog)!

By the time we’d eaten breakfast and gotten dressed, the snow was already starting to melt. This was great for the roads, but a problem with our snow adventures! Our snowman was covered in mud and sledding was a bust. Oh well! At least we had another snow ball fight!

Ice Storm, 2015
We’ve had a pretty disappointed 4-year-old on our hands! He was so excited for snow and building a snowman and having a snowball fight. Too bad we just got ice! Alex was a great helper before the ice started on Monday. He and I bundled up while Spencer napped so we could clean up the backyard and salt the driveway for Daddy. It actually started snowing a little while we were out, then the ice started just as we went in.
I’m curious to see if Tim will make it to work tomorrow. School’s been cancelled again. I know the main roads will be salted, but getting up the hill in our neighborhood will be a challenge!

Snow Days 2014
We’ve had some crazy weather lately! The snow at the end of January wasn’t too unexpected, but the 9 inches of snow we got yesterday and today was crazy! Can you believe Alex was sick both times it snowed? Ugh! At least he was well enough to get out in the snow for a few minutes both times.
Here are some pictures:

Too Sick for Snow
Saturday afternoon brought us our first snow in Charlotte. We were amazed at how quickly it fell! Alex was actually napping through most of the snow fall, but he was very amazed by the white winter wonderland outside when he woke up. Since he was so sick, we didn’t take him out to crunch in the snow, but we did open a window and grab a snowball. Grumpy thing wouldn’t even touch it! Here are a few pictures after the snow stopped falling.

Hurricane Sandy Can’t Stop Us!
We love watching USC football outside so Alex can play in the sandbox, throw balls, or paint and we can grill and be closer to the kegerator. Hurricane Sandy tried to stop us, but she’s no match for my creative husband! He hung up blankets and sheets to block the wind from our viewing area, allowing the heater to keep us warm. Check it out!
