Exersaucer!

Spencer was introduced to his exersaucer last night! He was so funny when I was holding him in front of it (explaining to Alex that he could play on the outside while Spencer played on the inside). Spencer’s eyes were so big and he started kicking his feet and flailing his arms like he knew what was about to happen. He actually does pretty well in it for about 10 minutes, then he’s pretty wiped out – which is great for me!

Walking the Dog

Yesterday, while putting shoes his shoes on to play outside, Alex asked if I would put on Kovu’s leash. Normally, Kovu is such a bum when it comes to playing outside. He usually just wanders the yard, does his business, runs a lap or two, then whines to go back in … and that’s with us outside with him! So, I agreed to the leash, especially since Spencer was napping. Alex had tons of fun! I wish Kovu would always play with Alex like this!

Daddy’s Invention

We are pretty sure Spencer is already working on some teeth. He started drooling a week ago (now I have two super drooly boys) and always has his hands in his mouth. If you offer him his paci, he will chew on it happily, but it always falls out. Then Daddy’s brain swoops in to the rescue with … the paci-maraca! He put a paci on the end of one of Alex’s maracas that happened to be sitting next to him on the couch. Now Spencer has something to hold on to … genius!

Spencer’s 1st Train Ride

In a desperate attempt to get out of the house, I decided to take the boys to Concord Mills Mall last week. We haven’t been since before Spencer was born, so I was excited to walk around the mall while not pregnant! When I told Alex we were going to the mall, he surprised me by asking to see the “shark” and didn’t say a thing about the train. It took me a minute, but I figured out he meant the big catfish at the Bass Pro Shop. We had a lot of fun walking around, almost catching the fish feeding (the presenter talked too long and Alex got too antsy), riding the train, and eating French fries. We even spent a long time in the children’s play area (I usually try to avoid it) after Alex developed a crush on the pretty blonde girl he was chasing. Spencer was very well behaved, sleeping the first half of our walk and staying cheerful until we got to the car to go home.

Alex didn’t even know this was a ride until Cery’s birthday party in August. He definitely recognized it as a ride on our mall trip!

I was so excited that we happened to arrive just in time for a feeding. Too bad the nice guy spoke waaay too long and Alex got antsy and insisted on going back out into the mall.

This photo cracks me up. Spencer wasn’t scared, but I think the forward facing camera surprised him!

Papa Bought a Tractor

Last weekend, we traveled to Spartanburg so I could go to my cousin’s bridal shower. Of course, as far as Alex was concerned, we were just going to see Papa’s new tractor. While he was disappointed to see that it wasn’t green, he still really liked it and talks about it everyday.

Before leaving on Sunday, we took some pictures of the proud Papas and their grand-boys.

Kovu is not a fan of anything on wheels … he tried to attack the tractor the same way he goes after the PowerWheel and the lawn mower!

Spencer is 3 Months!

It’s hard to believe that Spencer is already 3 months old! Time is just flying by with these two! Spencer still loves his brother and is always trying to watch him play. Alex has really warmed up to him this past month – he loves to hug and kiss Spencer, asks for Spencer to watch him do things, shares *some* toys with him, and asks about him when he’s not in the room. Whenever he cries, Alex says, “Mommy, food a baby,” which means feed the baby. He also tells me, “Baby awake,” when he hears him on the monitor.

Spencer is slowly settling into a schedule and has slept 7-9 hours at night a few times over the past few weeks. Woo-Hoo! If only I could get him down for the night before midnight, I’ll be good! He is rolling from his front to back during tummy time and can almost roll back to front (he still gets stuck on his side). He follows all of us with his eyes and hates to be left alone. He still loves his bouncy seat and even fell asleep in it after some serious playing today. If you missed the video from the last post of him playing, click here.

And now, the pictures:

Dirty Boy!

Even though I haven’t been turning on the sprinkler lately, Alex is still having a blast playing with his water table. The water ends up in some interesting places … and so does mud!

Spencer is Getting Big!

It amazes me how quickly babies grow! You’d think I’d remember the quick changes from Alex (it wasn’t that long ago), but I’m just in awe all over again. Spencer will be 3 months old on Friday and is already showing us his personality. He will sit for a few minutes in the Bumbo, loves tummy time, and adores sitting in the bouncy chair and talking to his minions.

IMG_8507
I think he was surprised to be sitting up “on his own” and not in someone’s lap.

Whoa, what did I just do?!

Getting Out of the House

Getting out of the house isn’t near as easy as it used to be! I have two major hurdles these days: Spencer has to be fed/happy and Alex needs to be in the right mood to leave the house. Alex has become quite the homebody! It takes a lot of coaxing to convince him to leave his toys. Last week, the only way I could convince him to leave was to promise a trip to a park. Finally, he agreed! So, we stopped by the bank to pay our rent, then headed off to a shopping/boardwalk area with a pond, ducks and geese, and a nice playground. It was a nice break from the house!

IMG_8518
We were pretty hot after playing on the playground and walking around the pond, so we stopped to watch the geese and eat a snack.

My Mini-Me

Almost every time I post pictures on this blog, my parents email to say how much Alex looks like I did at his age. I finally had the chance to pull out a photo album and was amazed to see how similar we look. I love my cheesy mini-me!

Daddy and His Boys

Daddy has been super busy with a looming deadline at work … but he always makes time for fun with his boys!
