Spencer has been spending a lot of time outside with Alex and me. Since he has such a short attention span, I’ve had to get pretty creative in keeping him occupied … luckily there is a lot to look at in our yard! It’s hard to believe I’ll have two crazy boys running around this yard next fall!

Halloween 2013
We decided to keep things easy this Halloween, so we brought back the pirate costume for Alex and dressed Spencer in a Mummy onesie. Then we crashed Katherine and Harper’s new neighborhood for Trick-or-Treating. This is really the first year Alex understood what was going on. Well, he understood that we were going house to house and getting candy, but he was pretty concerned about being out in the dark. We probably stopped by 15 houses, then went back to Kat’s house for chili. The only problem with traveling to Trick-or-Treat? I’m pretty sure he thinks he’ll get more treats the next time we visit Kat and Harper!
This is my 2nd blogging anniversary! Take a look at my first post (Halloween 2011) and my 1st anniversary post (Halloween 2012).

Exersaucer!
Spencer was introduced to his exersaucer last night! He was so funny when I was holding him in front of it (explaining to Alex that he could play on the outside while Spencer played on the inside). Spencer’s eyes were so big and he started kicking his feet and flailing his arms like he knew what was about to happen. He actually does pretty well in it for about 10 minutes, then he’s pretty wiped out – which is great for me!

Walking the Dog
Yesterday, while putting shoes his shoes on to play outside, Alex asked if I would put on Kovu’s leash. Normally, Kovu is such a bum when it comes to playing outside. He usually just wanders the yard, does his business, runs a lap or two, then whines to go back in … and that’s with us outside with him! So, I agreed to the leash, especially since Spencer was napping. Alex had tons of fun! I wish Kovu would always play with Alex like this!

Daddy’s Invention
We are pretty sure Spencer is already working on some teeth. He started drooling a week ago (now I have two super drooly boys) and always has his hands in his mouth. If you offer him his paci, he will chew on it happily, but it always falls out. Then Daddy’s brain swoops in to the rescue with … the paci-maraca! He put a paci on the end of one of Alex’s maracas that happened to be sitting next to him on the couch. Now Spencer has something to hold on to … genius!
Spencer’s 1st Train Ride
In a desperate attempt to get out of the house, I decided to take the boys to Concord Mills Mall last week. We haven’t been since before Spencer was born, so I was excited to walk around the mall while not pregnant! When I told Alex we were going to the mall, he surprised me by asking to see the “shark” and didn’t say a thing about the train. It took me a minute, but I figured out he meant the big catfish at the Bass Pro Shop. We had a lot of fun walking around, almost catching the fish feeding (the presenter talked too long and Alex got too antsy), riding the train, and eating French fries. We even spent a long time in the children’s play area (I usually try to avoid it) after Alex developed a crush on the pretty blonde girl he was chasing. Spencer was very well behaved, sleeping the first half of our walk and staying cheerful until we got to the car to go home.
